About ITPeducation.com™
ITPeducation.com™ is an educational curriculum incorporating a series of activities. This educational curriculum is designed to provide evidence-based clinical information on the diagnosis and management of patients with ITP to hematologists, oncologists, and other health care professionals. To achieve successful clinical outcomes in the care of patients with ITP, practitioners must keep abreast of the latest information and best practices for effective ITP management.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of curriculum activities, the participants should be able to:
- Describe how understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) has evolved in recent years and the implications for therapeutic strategies
- Assess the benefits and risks of current and emerging pharmacotherapies for ITP including the latest clinical evidence on efficacy and safety of agents that stimulate platelet production
- Describe the latest clinical evidence on the use of therapies stimulating platelet production in other patient populations prone to thrombocytopenia, including chronic liver disease and cancer patients
- Discuss recent findings on patient-assessed quality of life measures in ITP and how these issues may affect risk/benefit analyses and therapeutic management decisions in these patients
