Sammy Saab, MD, MPH, AGAF, is Associate Professor, Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine; Associate Professor, Dumont-UCLA Liver Transplant Center, Department of Surgery, University of California at Los Angeles Center for Health Sciences; and Head, Outcomes Research in Hepatology, Pfleger Liver Institute, Division of Liver and Pancreas Transplantation, University of California at Los Angeles Health System, Los Angeles, California. Dr. Saab is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology.
Dr. Saab received his undergraduate degree in Psychobiology, MPH in Epidemiology, and medical degree from University of California at Los Angeles. He fulfilled an internship and residency in internal medicine at University of California at San Diego Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident from 1996-1997.
Dr. Saab returned to University of California at Los Angeles in 1997 where he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology/hepatology at the Center for Health Sciences.
Dr. Saab is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. He currently serves as Assistant Editor and Reviewer for American Journal of Gastroenterology, Liver International, and Liver Transplantation, and as Abstract Reviewer for the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease. At present, Dr. Saab is Investigator and Co-Investigator for numerous liver transplantation studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. He has presented his findings at several national and international conferences and symposia and authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles, which appear in Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, The American Journal of Medicine, and Hepatology, among others.
